The best beginner wave in Santa Cruz and one of the top learning spots on the California coast. Located just west of the Municipal Wharf, Cowells offers long, gentle, slow-rolling waves that break far from shore and provide long rides on a sandy bottom. Warm-water currents funnel into the cove making it slightly warmer than other spots. Home to several surf schools and rental shops.
